My works 314 - 319

Juraj Lörinc & Klaus Wenda, 788 Pat a Mat 29, 2000, Notes: C010 Sent: 314, fairy h#2 can be found here.

KW judged 1st set of h#2 with grasshoppers and nightriders in Problem-Echo 2000 and after seeing my problem he came with this suggestion.

Personal rating: C.

After sending h#4 with similar fairy elements to the editor of Quartz, Paul Raican, he asked me whether it is possible to save one fairy element - grasshopper. Of course, it is, and as is proved by this and following two helpmates, moreover it is possible to construct 3-fold echo as here...

Theme and quality of Wola Gulowska 2000 I already described in comment to join s#2 with Michel Caillaud. Also the scheme of this problem was partly used in my another awarded problem, join s#2 with Ladislav Salai jr. Only after distributing my schemes to friendly composers I discovered extension of line idea to complete black play - there are 2 black line aimed at any of potential flights of wK d4, d5, f5. Despite repeated mate the result isn't bad! All keys are by the same vao, all defences on e4 and all 2nd white moves at e7.

This problem was reprinted in The Problemist as well...

"Almost" natural extension of one of my best works, #2 in Patrol chess showing 4-fold Kiss cycle. Here you see 5-fold Kiss cycle based on the very similar system of lines, with two lines inserted (those pointing to Oh4). The constructional problems, however, were immense and I still don't quite understand how Reto could have made this problem correct. He is really good! Many constructional elements are used in both problems, the most prominent beeing the patrol-typical guarding of mating double by patrolling of some black leaper, it means the same defence motive in all variations. I like this twomover, but I do understand, why so many of people don't like problems of this kind...
