1.Rd6 Gd5 2.Re6 Gf7 3.Rg6 Gh5#

1.Rd5 Gd4 2.Re5 Gf6 3.Rg5 Gh4#

1.Rd4 Gd3 2.Re4 Gf5 3.Rg4 Gh3#

Jubilee tourney of Vladislav Bunka asked for h#3 with grasshoppers. This was my first try to compose it. Very formal, echoed play in 4 variations is questionable... Nevertheless, judge V. Bunka liked this idea.

Personal rating: D.

h#3 (2+6)
grasshopper d8

1.Kf4 Gd5 2.Se3 Ge7 3.Sg4 Gd6#

1.Kf5 Ge7 2.Bh5 Gd6 3.Bg4 Gd5#

1.Kg5 Gd6 2.Gg1 Gd5 3.Gg4 Ge7#

Theme is easily seen and often done in h#3 - cycle of white moves. The merits of this work are, in my opinion, pure mates and unified motivation of all three solutions.

Personal rating: B.

h#3 (9+8)
6+1 grasshopper

a) 1.Qg2 Gh2 2.Rd2 Se6 3.Re4 Sf4#

b) 1.Qa5 Ga6 2.Rd3 Sg5 3.Rf4 Se4#

Here we have strategical helpmate - again, everything is well matched (with little exception of arrival motivation of queen move, in a) motive can be called anticipatory mixed antibattery, in b) she serves as hurdle for immediate move). I liked (and still like) this helpmate the best of whole my portfolio sent to tourney.

Personal rating: B.

h#3 (8+7)
5+0 grasshopper
b) g7 -» f7
