Lacny theme 1

The announcement of theme tourney follows this introduction. It is dedicated to very well known pattern theme that will be 50 years old - almost my age doubled. Nevertheless, I am proud to be chosen as a judge for fairy section. The orthodox section will be judged by great master Ludovit Lacny.

50 YEARS OF LACNY THEME
C 1.11.1999

(Ludovit Lacny, 1st Prize, Mem. Przepiorka C 1.11.1949)

Slovak Organization of Compositional Chess (SOKS) has the pleasure to announce a formal composing tourney for TWOMOVERS featuring traditional Lacny theme (cyclic shift of mates in 3 or more variations not including threats or/and first moves) in two sections:
a) Orthodox compositions but promoted pieces are allowed (judge Ludovit Lacny),
b) Orthodox pieces and board but with any fairy condition (e.g. Circe, Anti-Circe, Madrasi, Patrol, Kamikaze etc.etc.) or their combinations (judge Juraj Lorinc).
The theme can be shown in 2 or more phases of any sort (set plays, tries, more solutions, twins). Entries are to be sent to Peter Gvozdjak, Hlavacikova 9, 841 05 Bratislava, Slovakia, by 1st November 1999. The award will be published in PAT A MAT and sent to all participants.

Please reprint!

Promoted pieces are allowed to encourage authors to look for original mechanisms requiring more force than is usual. This doesn't mean that compositions with normal force are discouraged. Regarding fairy section, this field is rather unexplored compared to fairy #2 with fairy pieces or to fairy #2 with cyclic paradoxal themes (Dombro-Lacny, Kiss, Djurasevic - these are not thematical) - it gives good chance for finding very original mechanisms.

Here you can find a few orthodox Lacny theme examples, hopefully I'll add some more.
